Our Story
Transforming Stories into Shared Purpose
Matter that Matters was founded by Riaan Botha and Frank Fourie as a platform dedicated to storytelling, where business owners, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the Eastern Cape were invited to share their personal journeys.
The purpose was simple yet powerful: to transform individual stories into shared experiences that inspire and uplift others.
At its core, the platform was built on the belief that every person has a purpose, and that circumstances do not define who they are. The name Matter that Matters reflects this philosophy: people are made of matter, coming together at a specific time for a specific purpose, and every story holds value and meaning.
Over time, this storytelling platform evolved into a broader initiative focused on creating sustainable impact within communities. Today, Matter that Matters actively contributes to educational and empowerment iniatives.
Through his experience, Frank Fourie identified a significant challenge within the South African business landscape: many companies striving to achieve higher BBBEE levels struggled to find suitable partners to support their growth or maintain key contracts. Additionally, traditional BBBEE structures often concentrate benefits within a small group of individuals, which does not always achieve the intended broader economic transformation.
In response, Matter that Matters developed an innovative BBBEE equity solution designed to benefit a wider community rather than a select few. This model enables businesses to align with a meaningful empowerment structure, one that not only meets compliance requirements but also contributes to genuine, sustainable upliftment.
